Volvo C30 Sports Coupé is Car of the Year 2007

Volvo S60 T5 and All-New Volvo S80 also bagged awards

The Volvo C30 Sports Coupé snagged the most coveted Car of the Year award at the recently concluded Car of the Year Awards Night on 15 November 2007 at the Rockwell Tent, Makati City. Aside from also winning in the Luxury Subcompact Category, it zipped across all categories and brands and earned itself the ultimate honor of being this year's Car of the Year as voted by the country's distinguished Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI) which is composed of 26 media outfits. The Volvo C30 is the first car in the premium European segment that was accorded with this distinguished recognition.

After six weeks of rigorous quantitative and qualitative testing at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite, it all boiled down to a victorious night as Volvo garnered 4 more awards. The power packed Volvo S60 T5 brought home the Executive Car Award. All its 260 horses reared in pride as it galloped ahead of the BMW 320d, Chrysler 300C and Mercedes Benz C200. Not to be outdone, the luxuriously stylish All-New Volvo S80 2.5L elegantly received the Luxury Car Award. A car blessed with power, control and unique pre-emptive technology, it simply left behind the BMW 530d and the Mercedes Benz E280.

Special awards were also given to Volvo. The C30's sexy flanks and swift curvaceous lines grabbed the judges' attention thus gaining the Concept One Sexiest Car award. Volvo's legacy of safety was again also recognized as the All-New Volvo S80's intuitive safety technology was acknowledged as the Standard Insurance Best in Safety awardee.

"It is with great honor and pride that we accept these awards. The vote of confidence of the Car Awards Group Inc. in our models is valued so much by Volvo. We appreciate their efforts for taking time out of their busy schedules to evaluate these cars and make sure to deliver to the public a car worthy of the title accorded to it. The recognition given to the C30 Sports Coupé, the All-New S80 and the S60 T5 make us especially happy for our loyal patrons whom we feel are the real winners for driving these award-winning vehicles", says Viking Cars, Incorporated's President and Chief Executive Officer, Atty. Albert B. Arcilla.

Indeed, the awards were merely not titles but a reinforcement of the belief in the model's stellar characteristics and the brand's long-time dedication to producing a family of cars that upholds safety, quality, care for the environment and innovative design. It is Volvo's promise to design cars that strives to make life better for our clients and offer a premium experience that everyone can enjoy.
