For a while now, there have been rumors surrounding the return of the Volkswagen brand in the country. Well, it has been confirmed by a few well placed sources that VW will be making a comeback and will be handled by one of the country's largest conglomerates: the Ayala group.

It is not the first time VW has made a return in the country, as a few years ago, Auto Prominence was responsible for the brand, selling primarily the Polo Classic and the Passat.

There is no clear picture yet as to the specifics surrounding VW's return like dealer locations as well as who will be heading up the new VW here. The brand is reportedly busy recruiting key individuals from in and around the local auto industry.

The only detail that has a bit of clarity is the model line up, as the new VW here will bring in the Golf, Scirocco, Tiguan, Touareg as well as the newly-launched New Beetle.

If, or when, VW opens in the country, it will be the 5th German brand in the Philippines and opens a new chapter for the company that brought the world the iconic Beetle.
