This is one Nissan GT-R Nismo we can all afford

Lego has been releasing a lot of cool automobile-themed sets recently. There’s the Bugatti Chiron Technic set, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Technic set, and more recently, the Land Rover Defender Technic set. If you find the Technic sets a bit too pricey, there’s a great lineup of models in the Speed Champions set too.

Soon, there will be a new model joining Lego’s Speed Champions lineup, and it’s the Nissan GT-R Nismo. Since it is a Speed Champions kit, it won’t be as pricey as the larger Technic kits. At the same time, it will also be easier to build composed only of 298 individual pieces.

According to Lego, the kit was designed to capture “the authentic and intricate details of the life-size race car”. Based on the photos, we must say they did a really good job of doing so. The kit features styling cues also found on the life-size model including the V-Motion grill, circular quad taillights, and rear wing. The wheels also mimic that of the new multi-spoke units found on the 2019-model GT-R Nismo.

For those very particular with detail, Lego also took notice of the black-red splitters, the quad exhaust tips, and fender flares. If you look closely, you can even see a small GT-R sticker/badge at the rear. The Lego kit is then finished in the same black-red Nismo-Motul livery found on the GT-R Nismo race car.

“The Nissan GT-R and the LEGO brand are both renowned and loved by fans of all ages throughout the world, and we are honored to be the first-ever Japanese car manufacturer to partner with the LEGO Group. Many of our Nissan customers can trace their automotive passion back to when they built LEGO cars as children. With this partnership, everyone can be a `takumi’ – the specialized craftsmen that build the GT-R,” said Asako Hoshino, Executive Officer and vice president for Nissan.

Lego has not announced the price of the GT-R Nismo Lego kit just yet. For comparison, the GT-R Nismo does cost double that of the standard GT-R sold locally. Unlike the Lego kit, the full-size model comes with a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6. The set will officially go on sale starting in January 2020.
