As we mentioned before, Nissan quietly updated their compact sedan offering, the Sylphy. Here at the 2019 Singapore Motor Show, we got to take a closer look at the new 4-door saloon.

Sylph

There were two variants on display during the show, one being standard and the other being fitted with a sports kit. The 2019 Sylphy sees most of its changes at the front with a totally revamped fascia.

Sporting a new look, it now follows the company's 'V-Motion' theme with its new grill, and sleeker, upswept headlights with LED daytime running lights. Other changes to the front include a redesigned bumper, which is rounder compared to the current Sylphy.

As for the kitted-out model, it gets a deeper front chin and side skirts which makes the sedan appear to sit lower to the ground. More upgrades are seen at the rear with the inclusion of a trunk lip spoiler and a kit for the bumper. Wheels however are the same on both.

The rest of the car's body is retained for 2019. The same applies to the interior, which is mostly carried over from the current model. What is new, however, is the touchscreen and the addition of piano black trimmings on the doors.

Singapore-spec 2019 Sylphys are powered by a 1.6-liter engine, the same as before. It makes 116 PS and 154 Nm of torque. No manual transmission is on offer either as the 2019 Sylphy, for Singapore at least, gets a continuously variable transmission.

While the Sylphy gets a new face for 2019, it is yet to be known if it will be offered in other ASEAN countries. Thailand still uses the current design, and the same applies here for the Philippines. Either way, the Sylphy is now five years old, so an all-new model could be coming in a few years time. With spyshots of the next-generation Sentra/Sylphy floating around the internet, the all-new model could make its debut sooner than later.
