No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. You are looking at two Toyota pick-up beds, but the other one isn't attached to a vehicle. So, what's going on here?
What you're looking at is the TRD Sport Trailer, and it's the perfect matching trailer for your Toyota vehicle.
Previewed at this year's SEMA360, a fully-digital version of the annual show, the unique trailer is based on the cargo bed of the Tacoma Off-Road. Toyota claims that it's great for camping out or hauling gear, and we agree with them. It is a pick-up bed, after all.
Exact details regarding the TRD Sport Trailer are still a mystery. However, it does come with a Yamaha generator and a refrigerator/freezer. There's even a sink, plus a cooking station so you can bring the comforts of home outdoors.
Toyota did not say how they made this unique-looking TRD Sport Trailer. We suspect that the automaker could have taken a Tacoma rear end, including its flatbed, and modified it to become the off-roading trailer we see here.
There's no word yet if the TRD Sport Trailer will be a one-off or a soon-to-be-offered product. But with enthusiasts and customers already expressing interest in actually acquiring one, Toyota might be serious about selling it in the future.
It would be cool if Toyota builds a Hilux version of the TRD Sport Trailer for other markets like the Philippines. While they're at it, why not make one for SUVs like the Fortuner and Land Cruiser Prado? Now that would make an awesome trailer for die-hard Toyota fans.
