Motorists that need to go to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) or Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) can now get to either destination a bit more easily and a little more quickly.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently inaugurated the completion of Phase 1 of the road widening project of Lawton Avenue at Fort Bonifacio, Also called the Nichol Fields Road in Taguig City, Lawton Avenue now has more lanes to accommodate vehicular traffic.
“We are glad to inform the motoring public that their traffic woes will soon be over with the completion of this 1.34-kilometer road widening project that will provide better traffic flow, faster mobilization of goods and services, as well as a safer journey,” said DPWH Secretary Mark Villar.
With Phase 1 completed, DPWH says the newly-widened avenue will reduce travel time from BGC to NAIA by about 40% thanks to its increased capacity. The widened road has a center island and comes with three-lanes per direction.
In the future, the DPWH plans to continue working on the next phases of the road widening project in order for Lawton Avenue to accommodate more vehicles. Hopefully the DPWH will be able to work on it as soon as possible.
