The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is, perhaps, the most important car the German automaker builds. It's been the company's best-seller for decades, and it's consistently one of the world's top-selling luxury vehicles since it was launched.

But the current C-Class has been around for quite some time now. It may still sell in huge numbers, but the competition recently redesigned its offerings. BMW introduced the all-new 3 Series in 2019, Audi facelifted the A4 the same year, and Lexus gave the IS a hefty technical and mechanical update in 2020. That makes this Mercedes-Benz the eldest in its group.

Now, the all-new C-Class is coming, and it can't come soon enough. The only question is when is the launch? Not that far off, as it turns out.

Auto Bild España claims that the car's launch will be via a live stream event on February 23. However, the Spanish publication did not cite sources for the date. It is possible that the rumor may be true, given that more spy shots of the car have been appearing online in the last few months. However, it is unusual that Mercedes-Benz isn't making much buzz about this important model.

Regardless, now is the best time for Mercedes-Benz to launch the next-gen C-Class. If you look at the model's history, it's already due for a full model change. An all-new model arrives every seven years, and it's been that long since the current model, dubbed the W205, was revealed during the 2014 North American International Auto Show. The all-new C-Class is likely to have the internal designation of W206.

The launch could go two ways. It's either Mercedes-Benz rolls out a teaser campaign before the main event, or they can go straight for the launch and surprise everyone. Either way, it's more than likely that the 2022 C-Class will be out within the year.
