Geely Azkarra X now on sale in China, is PH next?
Geely surprised everyone back in August when they revealed the Boyue X. Known as the Azkarra here in the country, the restyled crossover features the brand's new “Energy Storm” design language that we first saw in the Geely Vision Starburst concept.
The new look of the Boyue X features a drastically altered front end dominated by the new starburst grille and gray-colored trim pieces surrounding it. It also gets orange highlights throughout the body, stylish 19-inch black alloy wheels, and a more sophisticated-looking interior.
But what can we expect to get from the stylish new crossover besides its new look?
With the Geely Boyue X is now on sale in China, all have been revealed. Starting with the engines, the Boyue X will be available with two options. First up is the 1.8-liter turbocharged inline-four that makes 184 PS with 300 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The other engine is the one we're all familiar with; a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo that produces 177 PS with 255 Nm of torque. Unlike the 1.8-liter which gets a 7-speed DCT, however, the smaller engine uses a 6-speed automatic. Should the Boyue X (or Azkarra X) be offered here, the 1.5-liter turbo will likely be the engine available; it is the one eligible for the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA), after all.
Step inside, and the Boyoue X feels very upscale. There's fancier leather upholstery, a new selection of color combinations for the interior, and what appears to be an updated instrument panel. Ever present is the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment which now comes with Geely's new built-in software. Other upgrades in the Boyue X include a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a 72-color LED ambient lighting.
With the Boyue X now available in China, does this mean the Philippines will get it as the Azkarra X? Geely distributor Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) has not yet made any announcements, but we're hoping they do bring it here in the future.
