When it comes to compact sedans, two models usually come to mind. These are the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla Altis. These two are usually neck and neck in their segment's sales charts, leaving a lot of their competitors behind. One can even say that these two define the genre.

Because of that, many models get overlooked. Take the Kia Forte, for instance. Kia Philippines launched their compact sedan contender about two years ago, but it hasn't exactly flown out of dealerships. It's a bit of a shame since it's a rather promising car with a reasonable starting price tag (PHP 1,095,000) within its class.

But perhaps Kia can sway more people towards their C-segment sedan with a minor model change. That is exactly what the South Korean automaker did for the 2021 Forte. Dubbed the K3 in its home market, it gets a fresh look inside and out.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new Forte gets a sharper, more aggressive look at the front. The slim headlights and Tiger Nose grille aim to attract attention, while the new Kia badge sits proudly in the center. It also gets a bit of a refresh at the rear with new LED signatures for the taillights and redesigned bumpers. The rest of the body carries over relatively unchanged, but there are new wheel options to keep it looking fresh.

While the dash looks much like the outgoing model, the facelift ushers in a new infotainment screen and instrument cluster. There are also new interior color combinations with the brown and black scheme hinting at upmarket ambitions. Expect more features and tech to be introduced for this model.

At the moment, Kia isn't showing full specifications. The engine choices remain a mystery, and so too are the safety equipment. That said, we are expecting most of the engines to be carried over from the present model. Safety features are likely to be boosted as well.

Kia will release the full specifications of the new Forte by April 20, 2021. Will the tweaks be enough for Kia to attract more people towards the Forte? That depends on the local distributor if they will bring in this version.
