LTO opens Motor Vehicle 7-Character Plate Backlog Inquiry

Bought a car two years ago? Are you still running on conduction plate? Well, you're in luck as you can now check if your new plates are ready for pick up. The LTO said that they will start distributing the new plates by July 5 and owners can check if they are among those who can get it by visiting www.lto.net.ph.

Not only will the site tell you if your plates are available, it will also show exactly where to pick it up as well. The LTO adds that some of the plates are ready for those who bought their vehicle from as far back as July 2016. The agency calls it the Motor Vehicle 7-Character Plate Backlog Inquiry.

Upon visiting the site, simply go to the backlog page and enter your vehicle's MV file number. It must be the complete 15-character file in order to be eligible. If the plate is available, owners may pick these up at the stated Authorized District Office or through the dealership. LTO says that they have produced over 230,000 pairs of plates, although there is still over half a million to go.

The LTO added that vehicles that were registered before July 1, 2016 will, unfortunately, not get their seven-digit license plates just yet. As explained before, those plates are covered under a different contract from a different supplier, adding that they are still encountering problems with the Commission on Audit.
