Those looking to get a certificate to secure a driver's license from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will be able to get one via TESDA.
The LTO and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that formalizes the two agencies' plan to strengthen motorist education in the country.
According to LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante, the MOA will ensure uniformity of standards among driving schools. Moreover, there will be more affordable driving courses available for the public thanks to the LTO-TESDA partnership.
“We have partnered with TESDA because we want to tap their expertise to ensure the quality of driver’s training being given by driving schools, the LTO, and TESDA,” said Galvante.
Galvante added that thanks to TESDA, more free driving courses will be offered. It is the government's answer to the public for an affordable and quality driver's education program.
As for TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro 'Sid' Lapena, the MOA aims to provide 'safer drivers' in the country.
“Sa ating data from PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority), isa sa mga pangangailangan sa labor market ay mga qualified drivers. As we transition to the new normal, kailangan ng mga drivers, ito ang constant na pangangailangan ng mga industries. And, we have regional offices who can reach out to those in need of the training. Libre po ito,” said Lapena.

The MOA will allow TESDA and its training centers to offer the LTO's Theoretical Driving Course and Practical Drive Course equivalent in Education Centers. Also, the TESDA National Driving Course Certificates courses will be like those offered by the LTO.
With TESDA centers set to offer equivalent courses from the LTO, there will be more choices for those who wish to get a driver's license. This opens up opportunities for those seeking a job that involves driving and transportation.
