Zipper lane for westbound motorists via Quezon Ave open daily from 6 AM to 8 AM
Motorists heading towards Manila via Quezon Avenue (westbound) during morning rush hour may soon be able to get to their destinations faster. This comes after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that starting today, December 5, a zipper lane will be set along the said avenue.
Open to the public from 6:00 AM until 8:00 AM during weekdays, westbound motorists are advised to take the said zipper lane. It will start in front of the Philippine Lung Center U-turn slot, pass through Quezon Avenue to the EDSA underpass, and will end at the U-turn slot in front of the Providence Hospital.
There is no exact timeline as to how long the zipper lane will be in effect along Quezon Avenue. However, the DOTr did mention that the zipper lane’s implementation is to study the possible effects on the current traffic flow along Elliptical Road and Quezon Avenue. Moreover, it will serve as a basis for the establishment of active and public transport infrastructures for the benefit of all road users.
For westbound motorists heading to Quezon City, Manila, and beyond, the zipper lane will surely provide some relief. However, eastbound motorists heading towards Elliptical Circle will have to watch out for the said zipper lane.
