Girl Racers Club holds successful 3rd car show
Cars, Music, Party, Great people... this was what the 2008 Grand Metro Autofest had to offer. A toast to the Girl Racers Club for its successful staging of the event held last Sept. 27 at the Silvercity Auto Mall in Ortigas. This is the 3rd GMAF event organized by the Girl Racers Club (GRC) and with its 40 all female members these ladies are definitely rocking the male dominated auto industry. The Girl Racers club is the first all female car enthusiast club in the Philippines founded by Russmine Herrera. It was established to form a club of female drivers sharing a common interest and passion about cars.
A total of 112 car entries registered, leaving everyone ogling at cool customized vehicles in all directions. The one-day event attracted more than 2,500 visitors. The highlights of the event included a Pandesal eating contest sponsored by Bread Bag, a prize raffle for lucky visitors which included a 3 days and 2 nights trip for two to Boracay sponsored by Patio Pacific, live performance by the Embassy band and a special guest performance by Sino Si Kat provided nighttime entertainment to visitors and participants alike. The event was hosted by Bea Siman for the morning program and the evening program was hosted by DJ Tom Alvarez of RX 93.1 and FHM model Renee Summer.
Female specific auto insurer Pink Wheels Car Insurance also launched their program having 50 lady driver participants, while Subaru held an open registration for interested participants for their 2008 Subaru Impreza Challenge for a chance to win a brand new Subauru Impreza WRX.
In the awarding ceremony, Playboy Philippines September Playmate of the Month presented the awards along with GRC President Jackie Day and other GRC officers. The Girl Racers Club thanks all the participants and is looking forward to hosting another GMAF in 2009.
