The definitive custom car and truck show of the year, the 2013 Manila Auto Salon (MAS) once again opened its doors at the SMX Convention Center last November 14, bringing together an extensive collection of highly customized Japanese, American, and European vehicles.
Now on its 5th year and second year to be held simultaneously with the 2013 Defense and Sporting Arms Show (DSAS), the Manila Auto Salon features the latest automobiles, trucks, and SUVs, all of which have been modified as they should be.
The 86 and BRZ fiesta
Of particular note is the presence of numerous Toyota 86s and Subaru BRZs, all of which have various stages of modification, including custom turbocharged examples. Making its presence felt is the Rocket Bunny 86, the Motul-Autoplus Subaru BRZ, the 86 trio from Autoline, and even the Toyota TRD 86 Pace Car that will be used for the Vios Cup as part of the AutoIndustriya display. All in all, there were 13 of Toyota/Subaru coupes at the show.
RWB fever
Car Porn Racing was keen to highlight the presence of four Porsche 911s (930, 964, 993) at their booth, all modified with the widebody RAUH-Welt Begriff (RWB) kits designed, crafted, and personally installed by Akira Nakai. The display of RWB serves as a punctuation mark to the 50 years of 911 that was celebrated at the Trans Sport Show. Nakai-san was also at the show on opening day to sign autographs and have his photo taken with fans.
Truck madness
One notable aspect of this year's Manila Auto Salon is the numerous examples of off-road specific SUVs and trucks ranging from Land Cruisers, Montero Sports, Ford Rangers, and Jeeps. Off-road pioneers 199 Off Road House and Ride showed some of their latest work, while competitors like Jeff's Off-Road Shop from as far as Baguio City in the North, and Trix Off-Road from as far South as Cagayan de Oro, and NAT'S Performance of Davao. Of note are the huge, ultra-custom trucks of 199 Off Road House, particularly the 'Crimson Typhoon' Toyota Hilux.
AutoIndustriya.com also displayed the most powerful Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 in the country owned by TurboAWD.
