The country's leading automotive aftermarket show, the Manila Auto Salon (MAS), has once again opened its doors at the SMX Convention Center last November 12, 2015, highlighting the local custom car and automotive tuning industry. With the theme of “Mad about Styling and Tuning,” the 2015 MAS featured a collection of customized sedans, coupes, sports cars, SUVs and pickup trucks.
Custom Japanese invasion
One of the highlights in this year's show was the Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R. There were also two Subaru WRX and one S207-inspired STI from Staunch Performance. Autoline came with a trio of Toyota 86's while Alex Restoration brought a customized Lexus RC F.
Joining the Japanese invasion was the Honda Jazz from Auto Junction as well as the Honda Civic Mugen and the Lexus IS 350 from Split Second. Starbright Bodykits also came with a Mitsubishi Mirage, a classic Toyota Starlet dragster and a Lexus NX 200t. In addition, Honda City Club Philippines also participated in the show and displayed five modified vehicles. The 2015 MAS also featured a couple of Mitsubishi Evos from Auto Circuit, a turbocharged Mazda3, a Honda Integra and a Nissan 370Z.
For the American cars, Autoline displayed a Ford Mustang fitted with airlift suspension, while Marcars brought a Liberty Walk Chrysler 300C. On the other hand, Car Porn Racing came with a sinister-looking Black Manta Corvette, while Starbright Bodykits displayed a flat black Chevrolet Express and Camaro. Gracing the American party were the Ford Everest from Shark Accessories and the Fiesta ST from AutoGenix.
European cars also made their way into the show, starting with the Liberty Walk clad Ferrari 458. The prancing horse was accompanied by the McLaren 12C Spider as well as another Liberty Walk clad Porsche 911 Turbo. The show also featured a 2015 Mini Countryman as well as a Golf GTI. Rounding up the European cars were three Volkswagen Beetles from Asian Coatings Philippines.
Of note, the 2015 MAS was dominated by a huge chunk of off-road setup SUVs and trucks. ARB 4x4 Accessories displayed a Toyota Hilux, a Land Rover Defender, a Jeep Rubicon and a Toyota FJ Cruiser. Furthermore, 4x4 specialists, 199 Off Road House, came with an Arctic Trucks Patrol, a Toyota FJ Cruiser, an all-new Mitsubishi Strada, and a 1996 Nissan Patrol Safari, among others. Other off-road vehicles present during the show were Toyota Land Cruisers, Ford F150s and Ford Rangers.
The 2015 MAS also featured first-time participants such as Gotspeed, Marcars Trading, Kurin Auto SPA, J1 Autoshoppe and Powerhouse Motorsports.
The show has also become a one-stop shop for car enthusiasts as trade and retail booths offered various aftermarket products. Some of the aftermarket retail booths present during the show were the following: Meguiar's, Vkool, Cromax, Pioneer, Blade, Denso, Weather Tech, Sailun, Mothers, NGK, among others.
As a whole, the 2015 MAS has once again become a venue to highlight the local tuning industry. With more than 150 custom cars, trucks and SUVs, this year's show proved that the Philippine aftermarket industry is alive and kicking. See you again next year.
