Synonymous with the ever-trendy import car-tuning scene in the United States, Hot Import Nights is a series of car shows that fuses a club-like atmosphere with the best tuner cars competing for the top car show competition awards. Aside from its usual schedule of touring different parts of the US, the very first Hot Import Nights in Manila, Philippines was recently held at the World Trade Center. With the ticket line extending as far as the building, a lot of show goers waited anxiously to see what the hype is all about.
Those who weren't familiar with the kind of shows that they put up in the US were surprised a bit to see the number of beautiful models, loud music and of course a wide variety of tuned vehicles that appealed to every kind of gearhead in attendance. Aside from the cars, another highlight of the two-day long show was the after hours VIP Party featuring celebrity models specially flown in from the US like MMA Ring Girl Arianny Celeste, Import Models Jeri Lee and Nikita Esco, who soaked up all the attention they got from the locals. Carefully selected HIN Manila girls were also there not wanting to be outdone and strut their stuff as well.
Hot Import Nights certainly highlighted the growing subculture of compact car owners, as it represented a myriad of vehicle styling in the more than one hundred cars present with a taste of drifting. As such, they also brought in Japanese female drifter Hiromi Kajikuma who displayed her drifting skills onboard a drift-ready AE86 Toyota Corolla Levin in front of the live audience.
Taking home the top spot in the tuner car category was the Nissan S15 Silvia of P.R. Autotype shop with the Hot, Hotter, Hottest Best of Show trophy, while the orange Honda S2000 entered by FM Garage and DZ Racing got the Coolest Tuner Car Best of Show as well as the Baddest Auto Skin Best in Paint award as well. Autobot Autoworks took home the Best Car Shop trophy, besting other aftermarket shops vying for the same trophy.
With better marketing and preparation, HIN Manila certainly exceeded Styling Xtreme which was simliar in concept and also had Jeri Lee done six years ago done at the same venue.
