To know what a car is all about, you have to C-For Yourself. This is exactly what CATS Motors, local distributor of Mercedes-Benz recently organized. A one-day driving experience for media and customers to fully appreciate all the qualities Mercedes-Benz has been boasting about its new C-Class. The lineup of vehicles included the C200K Elegance, C200K Avantgarte, C280 Elegance and C350 AMG. The weeklong event was held at the Diosdado Macapagal Airport Civil Aviation Complex in Clark Field, Pampanga.

"We are proud to bring this C-For Yourself Driving Event to the Philippines in order for our valuable customers to experience the prowess of the new C-Class. We believe that this will reinforce the new C-Class with the introduction of new safety features like early accident response, occupant protection systems and driving ergonomics as the new benchmark of dynamic performance, design, comfort, and superior safety in its segment," said Mr. Felix Ang, president of CATS Motors.

The driving experience is based on the platform of the Mercedes-Benz Active Safety Experience program wherein it aims to equip Mercedes-Benz drivers with the principles of safe driving to handle difficult situations they may encounter on the road to ensure better protection for drivers, passengers and pedestrians alike. The program was designed in paces to make the participants more skillful drivers, teaching them how to avoid road accidents through practical sessions and hands-on exercises. These sessions include precision driving training through a slalom course, emergency braking exercises, and emergency maneuver exercises. The program is conducted under guidance of highly trained German instructors from Mercedes-Benz led by Chief Instructor Win Daems along with his team composed of Florian Franz, Sven Schroder, and Jochen Hees.

?The modern safety technology is quite difficult to understand in theory. In the C-For Yourself driving event, we would want to give our guests the chance to understand this technology better while experiencing it in a realistic driving maneuver. Mercedes-Benz is offering this program because we think that a safe car is even safer with a safe driver,? said Wim Daems, Mercedes-Benz Chief Instructor, Daimler Germany.

The program properly demonstrated and taught participants how to properly use the ABS (anti-lock braking system) in emergency situations. This used in conjunction with active safety features such as ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Brake Assist (BAS) and the PRE-SAFE anticipatory occupant protection system. The PRE-SAFE includes automatic seatbelt tautening, automatic seat adjustment if necessary and closes the windows automatically in potentially dangerous situations. On emergency braking, the adaptive brake lights activate their flashing mode provides a more noticeable warning to following traffic of a road hazard.

With safety and performance being the integral philosophy of Mercedes-Benz, the C-For Yourself Experience has truly displayed all the ?agility at your command? characteristics of the new C-Class. Prizes were also at stake for participants who excelled in certain activities, the timed slalom session in particular. In store were die-cast scale model Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars, watches from Tag Hauer, and a once in a lifetime experience to visit the AMG Driving Academy in Germany.
