Honda's stake in the D-segment gets a facelift for 2016. It now bears a tweaked exterior, along with a refined interior. Both the 2.4S and 3.5SV models have nearly the same level of equipment and now comes with six airbags as standard across the range. Piano black trim also makes its way inside the 2016 Accord, with the addition of dual monitors: one for the multi-information display and one for the touchscreen infotainment system. Still powering the Accord range is the 2.4-liter DOHC inline-four and the bigger 3.5-liter SOHC V6. The former is mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox while the latter gets a 6-speed automatic as standard.
Honda did a great job updating the Accord 2.4S, a mid-cycle refresh that widens its relevance to the younger executive as much as it appeals to the needs of the chairman of the board. And the price is good too; PhP 1,788,000 for the 2.4S, though this White Orchid Pearl version costs an extra PhP 20,000. But there's a bit of a rub.
Good as the 2016 Honda Accord is, we can't expect big sales numbers. Yes the Accord stands tall amidst the competition, but the class itself is facing too much competition from the crossovers, the PPVs, the SUVs, and the new, more affordable models from the luxury car brands.
