Mitsubishi wants to expand its vehicle lineup beyond pick-ups, commercial vehicles, and subcompacts. After a long hiatus, the Outlander name has returned, only this time as a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV). Powered by a 2.4-liter MIVEC engine that is paired to a couple of electric motors, the Outlander PHEV can travel on pure electricity alone, and benefits from four-wheel-drive too. And in case of a blackout, the Outlander PHEV can be used as a generator to power certain gadgets or devices with ease.
