Nissan's contender for the subcompact sedan class is the Almera. Despite the subcompact dimensions, Nissan claims the Almera offers interior space to rival bigger sedans, particularly for the second row. The Almera also has one of the largest cargo capacities in its class, offering loads of space in a small footprint. Almeras are powered by either a 1.2 or 1.5 liter engine, mated to either a manual or an automatic. The Almera range starts at PHP 630,000 to PHP 880,000.

The Almera is a car that brings you from point A to B with no fuss. It doesn't do anything groundbreaking in particular but it does have decent equipment levels. Add in generous amounts of space and light controls and the Almera makes for a decent first car.
