Club Seventh Gen (Honda Civic)
Own a seventh-gen Honda Civic? This happy bunch are more than happy to welcome you

The Honda Civic may have started out as a humble economy box, but it has become one of the most important cars in the world with a huge following to boot. For over 45 years, each generation of Civic has been selling by the millions

However, there seems to be one generation that's been rather under-appreciated. That would be the seventh-generation model which was sold from 2001 to mid-2006. But even though it doesn't quite have the same iconic status as the fifth and sixth-generation Civics (That's EG and EK for you fanboys out there), there are still those who love and swear by their seventh-gen Civics. This band of car enthusiasts calls themselves Club Seventh Gen.

So, how did it all start? Club7thGen (CSG) was founded shortly after the birth of the Honda Club of the Philippines (HCP). It was actually initially named as “Tropang ES” by the five founding members; Carlos De Guzman, Butch Ortiz, Amiel Fuentes, Veegee Cabugao and Noy Valix. Then, in 2004, It became the official subgroup of HCP. In the span of 15 years, the group has grown from tens to thousands of members.

From the name alone, this group is all about the seventh-generation Civic, also known as the ES (or EP if you have the hatchback). And over the years, the club has become more like a family, helping and supporting each brother and sister, promoting respect and camaraderie, and of course contribute materials, various ideas, and impart knowledge. And while CSG is based here, they have members abroad too, bonded by their passion for the ES Civic.

The club is very much active even after all these years. Their social media group is buzzing with activity on a daily basis and there, members intact with each other be it by giving tips, helping each other out, or just hanging out online for a chat. Of course, there are the Get-Togethers' (GT) every quarter for members to see each other in person. For special occasions, there's the Grand Eye Ball wherein even more members meet up and the newly minted members to interact with even more of their fellow enthusiasts. Being a club, they also do outreach programs organized by the mother group, HCP.

Are you just as passionate about the seventh-gen Civic as these folks? If you are, CSG is more than welcome to join them. Getting in is actually easier than you might think. According to them, CSG is not entirely strict when it comes to bonafide membership requirements. Other than the GT attendance, aspiring members should be able to show that they have the passion in them to learn and share their enthusiasm to the group, follow its principles, and observe mutual respect, honesty, integrity, humility, road safety and discipline.

So while the seventh-gen model isn't exactly the most beloved iteration of the Civic, there's still a lot of love for it here. So if you do own one, don't be shy and join the group. The next thing you know, you're part of a huge family that shares your passion as well.
