The Philippine Drag Racing Championship opens the drag racing season for 2012 with the first leg of their Northern Series. Hundreds of fans gathered along the drag strip of the Clark International Speedway to watch almost 100 cars from all categories race against each other for the fastest time on the quarter mile strip.

The Quick-8 class reserved for the eight fastest cars of the day was the most anticipated portion of the event for everyone as they get to see highly-modified cars run down the drag strip trying to beat the fastest times of the day. Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blache Racing went home as the champion with a time of 10.052 seconds on his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. AHRA's William Hand, on the other hand finished 2nd place on his “Blue Haze” dragster with a time of 10.686 secs. Jayson Ong of Blanche Racing meanwhile grabbed third place with a time of 10.084 seconds aboard his Honda Civic.

Super-pro category champion was William Hand with a time of 10.657seconds, followed by Jayson Ong's 10.606 seconds making him the first runner-up. Pepi Santos from H3 Autoworks placed 3rd with an amazing time of 10.014seconds nearly breaking the 10-second barrier with the Rurex Honda SOHC turbo powered chop-top Integra.

The Pro category's winners were regulars in the drag racing scene Arvin Millet of Temz Automart, H3 Autoworks head honcho Bong Hilario, and Anthony Go. Arvin Millet emerged as the champion with a time of 13.222 seconds, Bong Hilario finished next with a time of 12.117seconds. Anthony Go finished as 2nd runner-up with a time of 12.254seconds.

In the expert category, Dietro Carlo Evangelista emerged as the champion with a time of 13.802 seconds, exactly the same with 1st runner up Rommel Dural. Arvin Jay Millet of Temz Automart, meanwhile placed third with another car crossing the finish line with a time of 13.338seconds.

The sportsman category has Marky Baquiran as champion with a time of 15.500seconds, followed by first runner-up Jannery Millet of Temz Automart with14.133 seconds. Christian Jay Roque finished as 2nd runner-up with a time of 26.094 seconds.

The hot street category champion for this series was lady dragster Jeanette Go with a time of 16.265 seconds who was pitted against Aaron Lao who finished second. Arvin Pagojo placed third with a time of 16.440sec.
