Nissan has revealed a specially wrapped 2016 Maxima, which served as the official safety car at Oak Tree Grand Prix in Virginia last weekend.

The 2016 Maxima safety car will perform the same duties at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, during the Lone Star Le Mans race on September 17 to 19.

On the other hand, the Japanese automaker is also an official partner of IMSA, the sanctioning body for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. In this regard, Nissan has fielded multiple cars and powerplants in recent seasons.

Competing in the Lone Star Le Mans race will be two Doran Racing Nissan 370Z NISMOs which also participated in the Oak Tree Grand Prix.

As a review, the standard Maxima was first previewed last April during the 2015 New York International Auto Show. Nissan has described the 2016 Maxima as the brand's “flagship product” and “4-door sports car.” It is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 304 PS and 353 Nm of torque.
