2016 V8 Supercars calendar announced, KL to host street race
Shorter breaks and more compact season await drivers in 2016 V8 Supercars

The 2016 Australian V8 Supercars will not only take place in the Land Down Under as Kuala Lumpur will become a part of next year's season.
V8 Supercars Chief Executive Officer James Warburton said that the 2016 season will be “the most exciting the sport had seen and a major win for fans”.
“We have a taken a close look at the calendar and come up with something that will be great for the teams, drivers and fans across Australia. This more compact calendar delivers consistent and regular events throughout the season and expands the championship into Asia in what is a truly exciting development for the sport,” added Warburton.
V8 Supercars held a demonstration event last August in Malaysia to which the locals were treated to the sights and sounds of the championship. V8 Supercars is slated to return to Kuala Lumpur from August 12 – 14, 2016 for an official championship event.
“Malaysians were genuinely excited to see our five cars race through the streets of KL and we can only imagine their reaction when the full field is on the grid next year,” Warburton said.
The CEO added that he expects that about 10,000 Australians will travel to Malaysia on the event itself.
