Bentley gives us an awesome POV of their Pikes Peak time attack
Bentley took the new Continental GT up Pikes Peak and set a new production car record

These days it appears there is a trend among high-end car manufacturers. Brands who are known for luxury and opulence dabble into the world of racing and motorsports, while those who are more geared toward sporting intent have also made vehicles with a fair amount of utility. It is this blurring of lines among manufacturers that produces unique feats that would be otherwise unheard of – such as a Bentley taking the production car record at the world's most grueling hill climb: Pikes Peak.
That's right, during the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Bentley fielded a new Continental GT up the 20km course and was able to bag the overall course record for production cars to this date. Crossing the line at 10 minutes and 18.488 seconds, Pikes Peak veteran Rhys Millen wrestled the hefty Grand Tourer around a total of 156 corners to bag the win. To top that off, a full clip from Millen's POV of the whole run was captured and shared by Bentley. This new record eclipses the previous record set by David Donner in a Porsche Carerra Turbo S (991) back in 2015 by about 8.4 seconds.
The Continental GT that set the record was powered by a 6.0L twin-turbo W12 powerplant pushing 624 PS and 900 Nm of torque. Considering how air density is always an issue with internal combustion engines going up to the 4,297m above sea level summit, the Continental GT's turbochargers helped alleviate the loss of power during the run. This helped Millen maintain an average of 112 km/h throughout the whole course.

If the Bentley Bentayga that set the SUV record at the event last year is anything to go by, we can likely expect a special edition model to commemorate the Continental GT's victory at Pikes Peak to come out as well. At least, that's definitely a good reason for Bentley to celebrate their flagship's capabilities as far as motorsports goes.
