Caterham F1 team replaces Kamui Kobayashi with German driver Andre Lotterer. With this, Lotterer will make his Formula One race debut at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium this weekend.
Lotterer is a three-time Le Mans winner and was previously a test driver for the Jaguar F1 team in 2001 to 2002. The German driver expressed his excitement to have his first Grand Prix race.
"I'm ready for this challenge and I cannot wait to jump in the car and make the most out of the weekend ahead. I will need to get settled and used to the car quickly, as the team has worked on a number of updates and we will need to have as much time as possible out on track to optimise the car's performance," Lotterer said.
Caterham believes Lotterer's experience will benefit the team particularly in mixed conditions that are typical to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
On the other hand, Caterham said in a statement that Kobayashi "remains part of the team."
