After a month-long break, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) gets back to exciting racing action at the Clark International Speedway for the 2nd leg of the 2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup last weekend.

Newcomers and seasoned vets together with celebrity drivers squared off once again in the Circuit Championship. Meanwhile, motoring journalists, social media personalities and Gran Turismo gamers were back racing against the clock in the Autocross Challenge. Spectators on the other hand got a glimpse of the all-new GR86, which was showcased ahead of its launch on August 26.

Starting off with the Autocross Challenge, it was Miguel Romulo who took 1st place in the Promotional Celebrity Class with Ashley Gosiengfiao and Carla Lizardo finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively. In the Sporting Celebrity Class, Jules Aquino came out on top, besting Arron Villaflor in 2nd, and Enzo Pineda got his first podium finish this season.

For the Autocross Media Class – Promotional, Pablo Salapantan of YugaTech / YugaAuto took the victory. Coming in 2nd and getting his first podium finish was AutoIndustriya.com's very own Creative Director Niko Villegas. Meanwhile, Wowie Go of C! Magazine rounded out the podium by finishing 3rd.

In the Autocross Media Class – Sporting, AutoIndustriya.com's Jamil Lacuna makes it two wins in a row, with Roy Robles of Zigwheels finishing 2nd ahead of Daily Tribune's Ronald delos Reyes. Lacuna, together with Riz Javier, Enzo Pineda, and Bianca Yao were also awarded the Brembo Driver of the Day honors for their performance in this leg's Autocross Challenge.

Meanwhile, the action-packed Circuit Championship saw Julia Delos Angeles of Obengers Racing Team take another victory in Race 4 of the Promotional Class ahead of Alain Alzona and Ian Rosales, with Jay Lao taking back-to-back victories in Race 5 and Race 6. Daniel Matsunaga finished 3rd in Race 5 behind Delos Angeles, while Alan Palacios and Jaron Mesina took the other podium places for Race 6.

In the Sporting Class, three different drivers were victorious in the 2nd leg of the 2022 TGR Vios Cup. Former GR GT Cup Junior Class driver Russell Cabrera won his very first race in the TGR Vios Cup for Toyota Team Cebu in Race 4, finishing ahead of Obengers Racing Team's Miguel Quinones and celebrity driver Troy Montero. For Race 5, it was Royce Sarmiento of RMS Cars Racing Team who took top honors ahead of Quinones and JBT Racing / Toyota Isabela's Maila Alivia. Lastly, Jiro Garbes of JBT Racing / Toyota San Fernando took the win in Race 6, with Cabrera and Sarmiento rounding out the podium spots by coming 2nd and 3rd.

The Super Sporting Class provided the best wheel-to-wheel action of the race weekend and saw Gerard Loy of R Racing Team take victory in Race 4 ahead of JBT Racing / Toyota Isabela's Red Diwa and Inigo Anton of Obengers Racing Team. For Race 5, it was John Dizon of Obengers Racing Team's turn to take the top spot ahead of teammate Anton and Race 4 winner Gerard Loy. The final race went down the wire, but it was Bryan Co of R Racing Team who took the chequered flag with Anton getting another 2nd place finish ahead of Loy in 3rd.
