Mercedes-AMG to join WEC LMGT3 grid next year
Mercedes-AMG partners with Iron Lynx for 2025 WEC LMGT3 class entry

For the first time since 1999, the three-pointed star brand is coming back to race the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Mercedes-AMG is joining the World Endurance Championship (WEC) from the 2025 season onwards, partnering with the Iron Lynx team that used to represent Lamborghini in the LMGT3 class.
The German marque is set to become the 10th manufacturer in the LMGT3 class, where they will race the successful Mercedes-AMG GT3 – a race car that has already won the 24 Hours of Spa and the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. The first drivers of the Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG GT3s are Matteo Cresoni and Claudio Schiavoni, while other driver announcements should follow before the start of the 2025 WEC season.

The news comes after Lamborghini’s sports car racing program was put under review, as apparently Lamborghini’s decision to run both the LMDh and LMGT3 classes was proving problematic in terms of both financial and technical reasons.
With Ferrari and Aston Martin racing in the Hypercar class, Mercedes-AMG’s entry to the LMGT3 class could prove to be a stepping stone for the German marque ahead of a top-class entry with the racing version of the AMG One hypercar.
