Seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher is in the hospital following a skiing accident.
Schumacher was reportedly skiing in the French Alps this past Sunday, took a fall and was rushed to the hospital while in a coma. Initial reports state that Schumacher hit his head on a rock. The 7-time champ was wearing a helmet and was conscious when responders arrived.
The 44 year old retired racing driver immediately underwent emergency surgery for 'serious head trauma'. Schumacher is currently being monitored but his condition is described as 'critical'.
His agent, Sabine Kehm, was reported as stating that “We ask for understanding tha we cannot give running updates on his condition. He wore a helmet and was not alone.” Schumacher had been skiing with his 14-year old son.
Immediately after news of Schumacher's accident, Formula One drivers poured their support for MSC's recovery on Twitter such as former team mate Felipe Massa, Adrian Sutil and Romain Grosjean.
