International lubricant specialist, Motul, is looking forward to being a key player in this weekend's 6th running of the 24 Hours of Dubai, the year's first major motor sport endurance event, to be run from 1400 hrs on Friday, January 14 until the same hour on Saturday, January 15.
Recently announced as the official lubricant partner to the event, Motul will also be celebrating a new partnership with the UAE's NFS Group who will become the company's distributor in the Dubai region. The NFS name will be familiar to followers of the 24 Hour event as its subsidiary, NFS Racing, has two Lotus GT4 cars amongst the 87-strong entry list.
Endurance racing is particularly valued at Motul as it represents a tremendous test-bench, often in the most demanding and challenging conditions, for its lubrication products. Motul has for several decades been a regular presence in this discipline and developed the specific "Le Mans" lubricant as part of its famous 300V range. 300V Le Mans 20W-60 will be the exclusive motor oil used by NFS Racing in their Lotus Evora and Lotus 2-Eleven race cars. Additionally, Motul will be present all through the event with a stand to showcase its products as well as offering technical support to its teams.
Although a relatively new event, the 24 Hours of Dubai has grown considerably in stature over the past few years and the ultra-modern 5.39km Dubai Autodrome track has become a favorite of drivers. It offers a combination of high-speed straights and technical corners which, combined with the size of the entry-list, makes it a challenging prospect for all competitors. Through its support of the IMSA Performance Matmut team, Motul triumphed in such circumstances in January 2010 to take its first win of the year.
Taking up that challenge with enthusiasm will be the drivers of NFS Racing's two SP3 class Lotus entries. They will be piloted by a highly experienced international line-up featuring Johnny Mowlem (GB), Stefano D'Aste (IT), Leo and Greg Mansell (GB) and Gianni Giudici (IT) in the 4-liter Lotus Evora, and Julian Griffin (UAE), Rob Barff (GB) and Frederic Gaillard (CH) in the 1.8-liter Lotus 2-Eleven.
