C! Top driver challenge champion Joward Policarpio of Manila once again proves his driving prowess as he literally drove his way to the top of the heap in the grueling 2nd leg of the Tuason Racing School - Ford Focus Cup (TRS-FFC) challenge at the Subic International Raceway over the action packed weekend of November 25-26.
In the four individual races, with 8 laps each, the country's motorsports athletes competed neck to neck with the expatriate community. Race car driver Policarpio, maneuvering car #8 emerged with his best time of 1' 38" 45 in heat #1, edging fellow Filipino Toti Turalba at 1m39.76s driving car #11 and followed by car #9 driven by Stuart Mac. Donald at 1m 39.89s of the United Kingdom.
In the 2nd commencing heat, car #8 Matthew Edmunds of Great Britain, triumphed with his best time lap of 1m38.46s, immediately followed by Toti Turalba with 1m38.70s and Policarpio finishing at 1m38.07s.
With his confident maneuvering to make it to the final leg, the gallery was in suspended animation as Policarpio in the 3rd heat posted 1m37.53s seconded by Turalba 1m37.65s and trailed behind by Mac. Donald with his best time lap of 1m38.13s.
Joward Policarpio continued his winning streak at the 4th race, finishing at the #1 spot with 1m37.72s closely trailed by Stuart Mac. Donald finishing at the second place with his 1m36.87s and Toti Turalba sealing the top 3 rank with 1m36.43s.
A total of 9 participants qualified for this 2nd leg of the Ford Focus Cup with all drivers driving an identical Ford Focus 1.6 stock engine with roll bars added for protection, organized by Tuason Racing School and powered by Ford Racing, Goodyear, Addict mobile, eStandard insurance, Ultron, Bosch, Rota, Oakley, Tradeshow Int'l., Red Horse Beer, H&R, Starbrightbodykits, the Manila Speedzone, K&N, Bravura, Trapik.com, C! Magazine, Philippine Star and Sikkens.
Highlight of the TRS-Ford Focus Cup was the skillful maneuvering of newcomer Rico Dy during the standard practice round where he surprisingly showed his potentials by setting the fastest time on record. Likewise lady driver Sam Santiago pulled off her own amazing feat by staying constantly at the top five of the four races.
This event is the Philippine competition of Ford Focus cars which drew its heritage from successful stints at the World rally championships and the World touring championships. The TRS-FFC series runs in 3 legs, touring the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) and the Subic International Raceway.
Final championship round will be on December 9 and 10 at the BRC.
New Zealand makes double win in Sentul
New Zealand's Jonny Reid has secured a double victory at the Gudang Garam A1GP Sentul, Indonesia event. In a rain-affected and incident-filled Feature race, Reid won by just over two seconds from Germany's Nico Hülkenberg and France's Nicolas Lapierre.
