Red Bull's Max Verstappen wants to race Le Mans 24 hours
Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen wants to win 24 Hours of Le Mans

This weekend's Formula One Qatar Grand Prix could see Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen clinch his third world title, but the Dutch has revealed he has another motorsport feat lined up.
In the weekend warm-up interviews, Verstappen was asked about his thoughts on Aston Martin's recent announcement that they're racing at Le Mans with the Valkyrie – a hypercar that was designed by Red Bull's Adrian Newey, and whether he wants to race at the Circuit de la Sarthe in the future. His answer? A resounding “definitely”.
In the racing world, there's a unique called the Triple Crown of Motorsport that every racing driver aims to win – that is the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Currently, Verstappen only has the Monaco Grand Prix to his credit, but it looks like he has plans to get the next two.
Of course, for now, his Le Mans stint still leaves plenty of questions to be asked, and plans for sure have not been made on which car or which team will he drive for. Verstappen stresses he wants to race at Le Mans with the right preparations to give him a chance to win the endurance race. Red Bull Racing has not shown any signs of competing in the World Endurance Challenge (WEC), but we should take note that they are developing their own hypercar called the RB17.

Verstappen did not have such good experiences racing at Le Mans, as he competed, albeit using simulators, in the 2022 and 2023 editions of the virtual Le Mans 24 Hours. In 2022, he crashed out while leading the race, and the following year, his team was forced to retire with internet connection issues – which is almost the equivalent of a mechanical failure in real life.
We'll see if the F1 champ would fare better with the real thing, and we hope he does it sooner rather than later.
