Sauber F1 team reveals 2017 race car
Sauber hopes for more points this season with new car and management

With the 2017 season of Formula 1 just around the corner, teams are beginning to reveal their cars for the season. With the new regulation changes this 2017, the Formula 1 playing field has been leveled, allowing even the smaller teams to have new opportunities.
After the reveal of Williams, the Swiss team has released images of their 2017 Formula 1 car. Dubbed the C36, Sauber finished the car in a blue, white and gold livery to celebrate the team's 25 years in the sport. With major regulation changes in 2017, the C36 is an all new design with no parts from last year's challenger.

Majority of the work on the C36 focused on reducing drag coefficient with the use of wider tires and weight reduction. “We put greater emphasis on aerodynamic stability as opposed to maximising downforce,” explained technical director Jorg Zander.
Testing begins next week with Marcus Ericsson driving the C36 in Spain at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. New recruit Pascal Wehrlein has not yet been able to get behind the wheel as he been forced to sit out the first four-day season due to his injury.

2016 was a rough season for Sauber finishing 10th in the standing with only two points. Now under new ownership, team principal Monisha Kaltenborn says he is confident that the team will perform better this season.
