Silver Bullet: Toyota WRC unveils new livery for GR Yaris Rally1
Toyota Gazoo Racing changes its WRC livery for the summer gravel rounds

Toyota Gazoo Racing has been in dominant form in this year’s World Rally Championship. They’ve won the first four rounds of the calendar, and the most recent was even a 1-2-3-4 finish for the Japanese squad in the Rally Islas Canarias.

As the WRC calendar moves into the European summer rounds, internal cockpit temperatures are set to be at their highest. And thus, Toyota Gazoo Racing is doing all it can to stay on top and keep its drivers cool by switching from a black to silver livery.

TGR believes the switch from black to reflective silver could slightly reduce heat inside the cockpit of the GR Yaris Rally1, reducing fatigue for drivers and maintaining maximum concentration as they go through the toughest gravel roads of Rally de Portugal, Rally Italia Sardinia, and the Acropolis rally in Greece.

Likewise, with silver being more light reflective than black, the GR Yaris Rally1 should be less prone to excessive heat buildup and protect its mechanical components.
The silver livery could also be carried through the next gravel rallies in Estonia, Finland, Paraguay, and Chile while the matte black could return in the tarmac rallies that will finish off the WRC season.

In the local setting, Toyota Motor Philippines is holding a street race this coming May at Villar City. With the race being held right in the thick of summer, will we also see the works Vios race cars don the silver livery to keep things cool as well? That’s one we’ll have to find out.
