The Toyota Supra will be racing in NASCAR next year
Toyota Racing to race the next-generation Supra at 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series

For those who follow the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Toyota Racing has been actively competing the Camry as their entry to the series in 2007. Next year however, Toyota will be changing car models for the very first time, and will be fielding the Supra instead.
Toyota revealed the all-new NASCAR Supra today, and is set to make its race debut next year at the season opener at Daytona International Speedway on February 16. To build the NASCAR Supra, the Japanese automaker collaborated with its subsidiaries Toyota Racing Development (TRD) USA and Calty Design Research to develop a Supra fit to compete in NASCAR. Both of which applied their knowledge and learning from previous efforts in NASCAR.
“Supra’s return in production form is huge news, but now we’re also going to see this iconic sports car return to American motorsport. From a marketing perspective, it’s important to have a race car that evokes the dynamism and character of its showroom counterpart. We’re confident we’ve accomplished that with Supra, and we hope racing fans the world over will proudly cheer its success on track,” said Ed Laukes, group vice president of Toyota Division Marketing.

The Supra has previously raced in mulitple series both in Japan and the United States. It had garnered multiple victories in Super GT and in the IMSA Camel GT Series in the 1980s. In fact, the Supra also made an appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1990s. This however, marks the first time the Supra will enter the NASCAR racing series.
No details have yet been revealed about the NASCAR Supra. Toyota has said however that they will reveal more information in the future.
