Pls help on amp wiring to sub???
« on: August 15, 2007, 03:03:18 PM »
Newbie here. I have a V12 4 channel amp 2000 watts w/ built-in crossover daw connected to a 10" DVC 4 ohm sub 1200 peak power handling with 350 watts RMS.  I wired my sub parallel positive to positive, negative to negative then connected the terminals to ch3 and ch4, I think the right term is bridgeable. I also used a gauge 8 for the wirings. I want to know if my wiring is right, does my amp can really give my sub the power it needs, and also teach me how to tune my system. Please look thru the sites below so that you will have an idea of my system. Please help  :dontknow:

:o Just found out last night when I was reading again the manual of the amplifier the impedance that it can handle pala is 4-8 ohms each channel and also when two channel bridged. What will be the effect to my sub and amp when i already wired them parallel that only produces a 2 ohm load?  Looking forward to help with my questions :newbie:

since v12 amps can only handle 4ohms when bridged, you shouldn't be using a 2-ohm load speaker on it... your amp's bound to burn up sooner than later...

I already changed the wiring of my amp and sub to series and also it is still bridged to ch3 and ch4 which produces an 8 ohm load which I just followed from the tutorial of JL Audio and RF Audio. I also checked the amp's manual that it can handle a 4-8 ohm load when bridged. Now the amp does not heats up easily and clips off when I turn the volume of my HU to 3/4 and a half and higher.  :cheer: Just to make sure, did I wire my amp and sub right this time?

i think that jl tutorial is right on...  ;D

however, i'm don't agree on having your amps clip before the hu does.

sir sorry mali po pagkasabi ko. what I mean is ung amp ko hindi npo cya nagproprotect kahit na laksan ko pa ung sounds ko. dati kasi nagproprotect cya kaya ung bayo sa sub nawawala but ung sounds sa HU,seps, and rear speakers meron p din po.

tama! may tama na yung amp mo.  ;D

siguro dapat mong ipaayos yung amp mo para maibalik yung protect function.  sayang din naman yung P2k+ na ginastos s v12.
