Parking Advice
« on: August 14, 2003, 01:26:39 PM »
Hi Guys!

Just got into a misfortune last Monday.

I work at a Makati office and I park my car in the parking lot at the backside of the building. It was near a Meralco electric post. For some reason, the fuse holder of one of the electrical components exploded, and the fuse holder, which is about 16 inches long and made of metal, fired on 3 vehicles, including mine. The first car that the fuse holder hit, a Nissan Cefiro, hit the upper portion its door and made a deep circular dent. The fuse holder bounced and then hit the windsheild and created cracks on it. The last stop of the fuse holder was my car. The fuse holder was on fire, and it landed on the hood of my RAV4. You guessed it - the hood of my RAV4 got a big burn, and the windsheild wiper also melted.

Meralco checked our company's electricals, and no faults were seen on our part. Meralco then claimed liability.

Bottom line is, try to avoid parking near electrical posts or lamp posts. They are quite unpredicatable.

 :)

Hi Guys!

Very lucky for me and my fellow workmates that Meralco will shoulder the damages made to our vehicles! If the incident did not happen within company premises, I would have to settle for insurance to cover the damages to Ravee.

Cardo and Andrew,

One big portion of the hood got burned, as in yung paint naluto and nakikita mo na yung bare metal skin! I had Toyota estimate the damages, and it amounted to 21k, kasi yung headlight ko may gasgas din, more than an inch long, and deep. The bumper also had deep scratches kaya kasama yun sa repainting. I already submitted the estimate to Meralco.

The Meralco guys, along with their in-house mechanic, will come again and see the vehicles to make their own estimate. Siyempre pabaratan yan kaya I have to really negotiate well.

Hope everything will turn out well.

 :)

avoid parking underneath coconut tree's too.
the shade is tempting but before you do park make sure that the tree is free from a bunch of coconuts waiting to drop.
