Well sometimes having someone do it for is really good at least you don't need to skip work and won't be stressed out dealing with the 'very efficient' lto.

but must say it helped me a lot in going thru the process

just wanted to share it to you

1. Step 1 and Step 2 are already combined and being done at Camp Karingal, QC
2. If current CR/OR is under a company name, you need to present Board Resolution or Secretary's Certificate, Deed of Sale (signatory to employee/seller) and valid ID nila pareho
3. TPL insurance P875
4. Processing fee 400 (+100 sa runner if you want to avoid the hassle of going to Landbank)
5. Photo op w/ you and a PNP officer infront of your car -kunwari he's reviewing your docs and you face him (same w/ emission testing)
6. You still have to come back after 3 working days for the releasing of the certificates. But in my case, i claimed it on the same day. Of course, may katumbas na lagay hehe
7. At LTO, they still required me to open the hood for stencil/etching works of both chassis and engine numbers
8. Change of Ownership processing fee is still 380

How do I make sure that the Open Deed of Sale is enough as proof that I am the owner?

An Open Deed of Sale technically does not make you the owner. You need to have your name put on the vendee so you can transfer the registration to your name.

You can also have the registration transferred to an LTO office near you.

Transferring it under your name will be beneficial to your end. The LTO registration is the title giving you rights over the said property, you can have it mortgage and/or sold.

In case of trouble with the law of the previous owner, it also serve as your safeguard.

Hmm.

To be technical about it, its the deed of sale that gives you right to the property. The LTO registration is your proof of title.

Also, small trivia, but the law says that in case of accident, the person whose name is registered as owner of the car will be liable as a general rule.

Thank goodness the process was shortened. Ang hirap talaga ng bureaucracy and paperwork.
