tnx bro...

malaki ba bro pinagkaiba ng 14s sa 15s baka kasi sayang yung pag palit ko..kung kunti lang difference nila..
lookswise, that would depend on how your stock rims and tires look vs how the upgrade stock and rims and tires would look. if your stock design is quite full, or has bigger spokes, while your upgraded set has smaller/thinner/more spokes or a lip or rivets, then there might not be much of a difference. that would be up to you. have a test fit and see.

i think you should always work backwards. think first of what you can afford. most of the time that will help you decide on how big tires you get. even if you buy 2nd hand 17s with tires when its time to change the tires the price diff between 15s 16s and 17s are significant. can you afford the lowering springs to go with that as well. if you buy brand new 17s lets say rota you will spend at least 27thw for the rims and even if you get federal tires it will cost you another 16thw then the springs is at least another 10000. thats about 53000 right there.

if your confused on what to buy your bank account will help you decide!

my 2 cents...

hi guys,

good day sirs,

Medyo OT. I am using rota 16s right now with 205/45/r16 tires. Medyo natatagtagan ako kasi kya I'm planning to change. Mga sirs do you have any suggestions? Isip ko is 195/55/r16 pro medyo alangan ako ksi nka drop ako ng 1.5inch sa Honda EK . baka sumayad pagfull turn. Also do you know reputable tire shops in QC that sell these tires? TIA;D

195-55 is way too tall compared to the 205-45. 195-50 is a better fit... but still taller by quite a bit.

I went from 205/45R16 to 205/50R16 because of the same issue... trust me, it doesn't really help all that much... just stick with the lighter tire.

@ niky

Ah ganun b. Thanks for the input sir. baka mag 205/50/16 nalang ako ksi halos konte lng difference sa price.

i would go for 16s for a city... 17s would look nice but compromises comfort na.

17's for a City?!  Too heavy for a weak engine.  It'll feel like a pig and the ride will be terrible for everyday driving.  Pang showcar lang yun.  Even 16's I wouldn't recommend unless it were forged rims.  Sayang lang the economy potential of the car.

What if for a 1.8 Honda Civic 2008? The 1.8V model comes with just 15 stock wheels/tires. The 1.8S are on 16s and the rims look way better. Pero laki ng price difference ng dalawa (both A/T, but the S has added features) -- about P40,000 difference.

Would you recommend I get the 1.8V and then replace the stock tires/wheels later with 16s? Or can I tell the dealer to slap on the 16s before I leave the showroom, ask ko na lang how much I need to add?

You should consider unsprung weight.  This is the weight of wheels, tires, brakes, suspension.  This affects the ride and handling.  The lighter, the better the ride and the handling.  The heavier, the rougher the ride and sluggish the handling.

Wheels and tires also affect the accelaration and economy of the car.  The heavier, the slower the acceleration and more gas you consume.  The wider the tires, the less gas economy and the better the handling.  The lower the profile of the tires, the better steering response but ride suffers cuz you "feel" more the road.

So it's up to you to decide what your priority is.

For 1.6L to 1.8L and below, 16 or 15's is fine.  2.0-3.0L can take 17's or 18's.  More than that and you compromise na power, economy and ride.

Heck, even on a 2.0, the difference in going up to 17" from 16" is immediately noticeable.

Personally, go for the smallest wheel that'll fit around your brakes if you value comfort and economy. If performance is an issue, you can always buy better tires... and performance tires in smaller sizes always cost less than those same tires one or two sizes up. But I think 16" is okay for the Civic.

IMHO, best option is to get new wheels and tires outside. Save your stocks. Casa-sold upgrades are often very expensive... especially for brands like Honda... and you're stuck with the tires they'll package with the rims.
