anyone here who can share an overview with the unichip? :) i think this is the only ecu tuning tool available here in manila for 8th gen civics with automatic tranny... i've read that hondata Kpro is not compatible with automatic transmission units. Does the unichip offer the same tuning capabilities like those offered by Crome, uberdata etc? help :dontknow:

go to speedlab since that shop is the local authorized dealer and tuner of unichip

They've already done a few 8th gen Civics.

The Unichip can handle fuel and ignition timing, and this is included in the base charge. About 30k for installation and tuning. This will typically net you 5-10 hp at the top end and about 10-15 hp in the midrange, depending on the engine.

The chip can also do O2 emulation and clamping, electronic throttle control, launch control, multiple maps, cold and hot weather adaptation, nitrous control, 5th injector control, turbo, etcetera... but you'll have to pay extra for any other features you activate or any additional tuning you desire beyond the "base" map.

Fast White Cat (FWC)

Don't know, and can't understand, all the features that Unichip can do.  But one thing I'm sure of, it's well worth it.

Before Unichip, I averaged 6.5 kms./liter on my car for city driving.  Best fuel consumption was 9 kms/liter on country driving.  With unichip, I hit 12 kms/liter going to Subic and back to Sta. Rosa, Laguna.  May hataw pa yung sa SLEX.  May average consumption now is 8 kms/liter, even with my leaded foot.

Of course, the additional power is a very nice bonus.  Right, Niky?   ;D

thanks guys! :cheer: do u happen to have ferman's contact number?

anyway, unichip tuning can only be done at speedlab? is it possible for me to have their software upon purchase of unichip package so i can do ecu tuning by myself if im going to have some more modifications in the future? i have a formidable background na rin kasi sa crome tuning sa honda ko and it was so fun tweaking the ecu by ourselves. :evil5:

thanks again :occasion14:

AFAIK the software is proprietary so only Speedlab can tune your car.

No I returned it for a refund. Speedlab could't make my car run right with it. From 263 whp at 1 bar boost with an SAFC they could only manage 160 whp at 1.4 bar boost, plus the car would constantly die when idling.

That's strange... you're running  DET, right? Ghosthunter has one on his SR20 and they got it to work properly... (made more power than me, like for like mods! Grrrrr) but it happens, sometimes, I guess, since each set-up is a completely custom one, and you can't tell how a certain engine will react until you've tried it... but this is true of most piggybacks.

I was the guinea pig for the Lynxs RS... then FWC and two other guys followed me. I had problems because of closed loop tuning, but the other guys had no major problems (except one guy, where they couldn't get ignition... until they found out his lightweight pulley was interfering with his crankshaft position sensor). I guess it's a same-same record with E-manage... one guy had no issues while the other burned ignition coils (apparently common with the E-Manage blue).

Yes SR20DET with upgraded turbo and 550cc injectors. I have an E-Manage Ultimate just lying around at home, I'm kinda lazy to have it installed since the car is running good with just the SAFC2.

Oops... my mistake! He's using an SAFC din pala!

Anyway, for the SR, you don't really need much more than that, right? Distributor type, so any ignition advance can be done manually?

so you bring the car over at speedlab running good then after tuning with unichip, it didn't run well anymore?  :-[ even they'd tried different mappings the car didn't run better?

Pulse-width control for injectors is better than MAF based control which is what an SAFC does. Supposedly "fooling" the MAF will result in a not so ideal timing curve. Ignition advance is usually set with Nissan's Consult tool, so it has to be electronically done.

Actually my SAFC2 started to act up when I got to Speedlab. That's why I considered to try out the Unichip. The dyno tuning was done at Autoplus since the dyno at Speedlab was undergoing maintenance. Even with Pacho helping out Ferman, my car ran like crap. When Autoplus put back the SAFC2 my car immediately got its old power back.

I guess it's hit or miss depending on the Unichip's compatibility/history with different engine makes/types.
