H8 bulbs... any counterpart or similar bulb?

i have read some OEMs have been using H8 bulbs for their fog lights. Since it is a new application, aftermarket bulb makers still have to catch on to this. I've gone around asking about H8 bulbs and i get this odd look from stores. There was this one store owner though who said that it was similar to another bulb (he mentioned a series of numbers as the bulb model). Anyone here know what is is or another name/model similar to the H8?
