and how much naman po.thx

Question is why would you need an aftermarket external oil cooler? Is your engine turbo or are you doing track sometimes?

sir walang turbo pang tracks lang po.

speedyfix

depends what engine you'll be putting one on. if there is an adaptor for your car then pwede.

Most everyday cars don't need it. It's good to have for the racetrack, where high rpms and low speeds really make oil temperatures spike. But in traffic at a hot idle or when you're going over 100 on the highway, with cool air keeping engine and coolant temps down, benefits are not so big.

Useful ang Engine oil cooler for a track days, especially in hot climates. I've seen my engine temp rise past the 1/2 mark and this was a track evening on a pretty fast track layout.

Madaming nabebenta sa online as universal coolers.

When buying the cooler, buy the whole kit: kelangan mo yung adapter sa may bandang engine oil filter kung saan mo ita-tap yung lines.

It's okay but it's not really necessary, sir.

I heard that the oil cooler kit costs about $150; pricey!

speedyfix

$150 is nothing pa. maybe if you piece it together with surplus parts yan lang aabutin mo.

check out the prices of hks kits. all with proper ducting, oil thermostats, etc.  http://www.nengun.com/hks/oil-cooler-kit-type-r

yan and mahal but of very good quality and kumpleto.

i'm considering to install one in my car because my performance upgrades increased the temp of my water and oil even on regular daily driving. i'm not sure if i still need to buy the one with thermostat. but this is so expensive.

i saw an oil cooler kit with no thermostat that costs around 10k. i don't know if this is just okay and will not make it difficult for my engine to reach normal engine temp.

Not really necessary for most cars but very useful for the old VW Beetle. Porma pa.   ;D

in my case, i think i need it because of my increase water and oil temp.

i'm just thinking if a small non-thermostat-controlled oil cooler is okay only and will not make it difficult for my engine to reach normal engine temp.

IMO if it can give significant benefits regardless of the type of engine, why not? However, if it will just be another expense on your part, I think it's not worth it.

Another thing, oil coolers are effective in racing because you need a lot of airflow for it to work properly since it does'nt have a fan and since most are installed under the bumper. It can be installed in front of the radiator but still its very far away from the fan.  In city driving, you wont have that much airflow, especially if you're stuck in traffic, so oil coolers in city driving is IMO not really that effective. However, the positive effect that some get in city driving after installing the oil cooler may come from the fact that installing an oil cooler will make you add more oil to the engine because of the additional plumbing plus the cooler.  The fact that you have more oil may mean that heat dissipation is more efficient and not primarily because of the oil cooler itself.

Based on my experience the oil cooler will not have an effect on the length of time to reach operating temperature. The added cooling effect will not be felt in slow city driving but once you get the opportunity to speed up that's when it'll show its benefits.

hmmm... well i guess that's logical because when there's no wind blowing at the oil cooler then there's nothing to cool it down.

is there something you can suggest to help cool down the water and oil temp?

thanks!

Basics muna: A clean and efficient cooling system and a clean, sludge-free engine.  Maybe you can add another fan, switch to red coolant which contains di-ethylene glycol. This type has a high boiling point of 245 degrees celsius.
