For car owners with oil sludge problem:

To AutoIndustriya forumers, has anyone tried Auto-RX (http://www.auto-rx.ph). on your cars with oil sludge problems?

On how to use, here is the link: http://www.auto-rx.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=58

I need your kindest inputs please.

Problem:

I bought a pre-owned 2001 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6G A/T recently.  It's mileage is 90,282 KM.  I must admit that it is a "Bad Buy" and a very hard lesson learned on my part, my bad!  Anyway, after a few days, I brought the car to Toyota-Pasong Tamo (TPT) for check-up on its engine (check engine sign lights once in a while), suspension and "pang-ilalim".  I also have it changed oil, tuned-up (replaced its spark plugs), change its air filter and change its ATF.  I was told by the attending SA, Leadman and its Mechanic that the engine of my car has "Oil Sludge" and needed to be oil flushed twice.

After a few days, to satisfy my paranoia on that lighting "Check Engine sign", I brought the car again to Toyota-Pasong Tamo to have it run on their IT2 computer or OBD Diagnostic to really know the problem of my car's engine.  Per result of the IT2 run, I was told that there were loose wirings and have to be fixed.  I paid P1,600.00 plus the labor charge for that IT2 reading.  The next day, the "check engine sign" lighted again.  I called up TPT and was told that the reason why it keeps on coming out is because my car's engine has "oil sludge" and I don't have to worry and that there is no effect on the driving performance of my car at hindi daw ako ititirik.  I was told also that to remedy the "oil sludge", engine overhaul should be done and will cost me much.

At present, I am contemplating of trying Auto-RX instead of having the engine over-haul.  I am looking now on where I can save money to save my car's engine.  The tests and testimonials on AUTO-RX's site is very promising and I want to try it.  I will appreciate very much inputs on this product.

Thank you.

Happy motoring.

in most cases, toyota sludge problems will not be fixed by flushing products. you have to manually scrape off the sludge. that's how bad it gets.

I emptied one bottle to my 2001 toyota corolla oil sludge engine last May 7, 2011.  I am presently at my cleaning phase.  So far everything is the same before except that for the last 2 days of using the car, the Check-Engine-Light (CEL) no longer appears.

I have taken some pictures before I threw in the Auto-RX bottle last 05.07.2011:

OT:  I have to bring back the car to Toyota-Pasong Tamo to discuss with the guys there the diagnostic error code P0120 (Throttle Position Sensor/ Switch "A" Circuti Malfunction) appeared on the IT2 reading on the car.  I paid P1,600.00 for that reading and I was told that wirings were fixed, but to no avail the engine's IDLING is still erratic (Advanced).

Wow you sure have a serious sludge problem and I would really go with Migs' suggestion even after the oil treatment.

speedyfix

nope, not the same migs :)

my suggestion to you would be to bite the bullet, buy an overhauling kit and have the head removed. that's the only way you're going to get all the dirt everywhere.

just finished working on 2 camry's with the same problem. one of them had to change both his main and connecting rod bearings because they were badly scuffed from not having any oil circulate due to all passageways being clogged with sludge.

^@Migs, so this is really a problem (Oil sludge) for toyota cars (Camry/Corollas/Revo).  Your testimonials really says it all.  Thanks for the inputs.  Anyway, I will be considering your suggestion after this Auto-Rx excercise.  For 300 kms after putting in ARX, the check-engine-light (CEL) no longer appears and I hope it's working inside my engine.  My fuel consumption is getting better now at 8km/liter at heavy to light city driving (cubao-makati everyday) from 6km/liter then.

Can you text me how much will it cost me for the overhaul (labor only)?

Thanks.

Is this a design problem on toyota engines or its really the 10K synthetic oil drain interval is too long for our climate? I sold my 01 altis last year with 5K oil change interval with semi synthetic and I can still see the metal when I look inside the oil filler. Looked at my friends newer altis with 5K oil changes and already varnish on the metals inside?

On the net, there is so much discussions on the oil sludge problem of toyota.  Here in the Philippines, a lot of toyota car owners has this problem even if following the every 5K PMS or 6-months, which ever comes first.  IMO, I think it is really a problem on the engine design.

Good luck to all toyota cars owners.

firstcontact, you can contact me in the shop or at any of the numbers in the sig for the pricing so we don't get o.t. on the board.

bitmd, i think the problem starts with the vvti system and spreads from there. it may be a problem of the oil they use though since most of the cars we've done have still stuck to the 10k kms interval on our RP oil and have not had problems since having it cleaned. even those who have done it a couple of years ago are ok pa.
