Hooking up an iPod Touch to a car stereo

Hi guys!!

Im pretty much a newbie both in this forums and in cars. I just got me recently a 1990 Toyota Corolla XL (small body) and I was wondering what do I need to do to hook up my iPod touch (4th gen) to my car (so I can both charge and play music on it at the same time). What kind of head units do I need to look out for, particularly budget-friendly ones (just don't recommend CDR-King brands please) that are iPod ready. Thank you and have a great day!

The most wallet friendly decent head units would be Pioneer and JVC.

Most new head units are Ipod ready. Just like Sir Brent said, good brands w/ good price would be Pioneer, JVC, Alpine... and maybe Sony? They are not well established yet in car entertainment but some say they are decent as well. A bit cheaper than the others.

Thanks for the replies guys. Another question, is hooking an iPod on the head unit easy enough (plug-and-play) and I was also wondering if my iPod will automatically chargeup each time I hook it up to my stereo. Thank you so much for the help guys, much appreciated!

It depends on the iPod model and car stereo. My 3rd Gen iPod Nano charges on my JVC, but the 4th Gen iPod Nano does not. You can ask the store if it does work or not. If they tell you yes and it does otherwise, I'm sure you can demand for a replacement or a refund.

Thanks again Brent. Mine is a 4th gen iPod Touch, so I guess I need to take that into consideration when looking for a stereo then. I'll be scouting around for it and stuff. Thank you so much for the help and have a great day!
