I'm not really an Apple fan, but to look at it from an objective point of view, Apple will do just fine.  During the times when Steve was on leave one the months before the launch of the iPod many years ago, it was Tim who steered the operations pretty much into profitability. He may not be as charismatic, but he has the efficiency and probably same passion as Steve Jobs.

there's a lot of apple fanatics to support the business even if he resigns. i think he deserves a break and hall of fame spot if there's any. lol
