2005 - 06 Honda CRV

Hi guys! Im planning to buy a 2nd hand suv and im eyeing at a 2005 or 06 CRV. I've been reading a lot of horror stories about the 03 - 04 model like high maintenance cost, AT tranny and aircon problems and high gas consumption. Am i gonna have the same problems with the 05 or 06 version? I could not find any good article and personal reviews about it. Thanks.

I cannot say for the 05 or 06 model - I just got me a 2007 CRV AT and its in very good condition. It just drinks a lot - actually I am at abot 5.5 to 5.8 KM/L or 17L per 100Km.

What is the advantage of gen2 over gen 3? I'm also eyeing for one.

That is already considered good, mine was worst than that, around 4km/L

If you want CRV get the manual  . . .  if you dont find a manual on the year model you aspire then I suggest that you shy away from crv.

But if your the type capable of handling automotive expense then get the crv matic. its all there gas consumption, parts, maintenance, matic trans issues

but all vehicles specially those updated models has negative feedback on high priced parts modelo kase. but if your eying for crv that means baka may budget ka but if you just like the style then prepare a budget for repairs habang good running pa cya. but if you are after the brand then wala ka budget or you only have enough then might as well choose another brand. Honda's are mostly for enthusiasts or for people who have extra to finance another baby

gen 2 has the manual version which is good and reliable ang gen 3 ata wala matic lahat.

The older a vehicle is, the more things will go wrong with it. Thats just the way it is, and its not specific to the CRV or to Honda. So a 2005-2006 is better than a 2003-2004 for sure. But it might only be a few years, before the amount of errors will be just the same, as it is on a 2003-2004 now.

Fuel consumption heavily depend on, where and how you drive your car. It seems everyone, who replied here, mostly use their CRV to sit in a traffic jam with the engine and aircon running.

Under those conditions km/l is a largely irrelevant figure, and one should look at the consumption as liter/hour instead. It is for sure more cheap to sit in an apartment and use the aircon there, rather than in a car.

If you actually drive a CRV rather than sit in a trafic jam with it, 10 km/l should be within reach.
