Is it ok if i have my car aligned BEFORE i buy new tires?  or should i have the new tires/mags installed first then get an alignment?

WaZ

i suggest you change your tires first and your mags before having your car aligned :)

it would depend on how ure going to keep your current wheels/tires.  if you think u'll be using it for 6mos or so, IMHO, go for the alignment first.

when you buy your mags/tires, make sure that you haggle for free alignment and balancing...

plano ko kc bumili kay Freedy's jan sa Evangelista ng mags and tires.  pero according to Freddy's, they don't do alignment daw e.  pero kung pwede talagang i-libre na ung alignment (P1300 kc un e) hanap pa siguro ako ng ibang shops.  thanks!

TIP: if you upgraded the wheel / tire size from OE, surf the forum boards and ask ano OK na wheel alignment spec to give more performance / grip (if you are inclined towards that).

Sayang new wheels and tires mo kung OE alignment lang, yung full potential ng gains mo sa grip / handling will not be realized with OE alignment specs.

is there any good shop out there that can do a proper alignment for a lowered vehicle?

changing the ride height will affect alignment and i believe stock specs don't apply anymore so there's a special way of doing it.

AFAIK for most econoboxes, konti lang pwede galain sa wheel alignment, toe lang. You need to have adjustable camber (whether integrated to the OE design of the suspension) equipment, or add-on accessories like pillow-ball mounts for macpherson / multilink strut suspensions (Lancers, BMW's) and an adjustable camber arm for double wishbone suspensions (Honda Civics).

Having said that, I'd advise you to go to CATS and look for Raul, magaling siya sa wheel alignment, mabilis magtrabaho. Ok rin sa Sterling sa may Timog, I know some racers who have their wheel alignment on their race cars done there.

But wherever you chose to have your alignment done, if you plan to deviate from OE specs, you should be the one to supply the new specs.

In connection to RS-Sprint's recommendation, i plan to upgrade nga my original Civic's tires from stock to 15" (Rota Stage 5 with 195/50/15 tires).   Does anybody know what the alignment specs should be for this set-up?

Madness, I was at Servitek Alabang this afternoon.  Kkkkkkasar service dun!   napkatagal!  I waited 1hr just to have my car check-up.  Then they charged me P100 for the check-up.   Ung mga prices nila grabe, doble compared sa ibang shops!!
