guys you might want to check our new article. its all about basic performance mods (i-h-e)
here's the link

so before posting a new thread regarding i/h/e check this article first coz the answer your'e looking for might be there already.
enjoy... ;D
Thanks for this thread dude! ;)
I'd like to suggest that a follow-up article about suspension, wheels, and tires be made. :)
Yes, a suspension how-to article would be good, especially since this is quite a lengthy article because there are so many different suspension parts that can be added, upgraded or retrofitted for different suspension types (macpherson, wishbone-type, live-axle etc.)
Yes coming soon. The how to's and how not to's in suspension upgrades.
thanks man, this info about the article is helpful for those who no longer visit the autoindustriya main page... 8)
That is why you should visit the main page more often so you won't have to ask too many questions. Because a lot of answers are there already.
Can't wait for the other article to be release... hopefully soon! ;) thanks guys! 8)
nice article. keep up the good work!

Sana may thread na about suspension mods?
I replaced my Altis mags recently and have been having problems with the new one. Masyadong matagtag. I installed a 17" mags with 215-45-R17 Falken tires. Gusto ko sana palitan ng suspension but I have no idea what to install and where to buy it.
This is the mags that I installed pala http://www.conceptonewheels.com/wheelhtml/havok.html

Different manufacturers use different kinds of tubing each with their own claim of performance increase. But if they told you what it exactly is, then they'd have to kill you. ;)
nice article sir brent...sana next tym reagrding suspension and major racing set-ups naman.ciao
Suspension article still in the works. I'm trying to simplify it because the topic is too broad.
cant wait! :D

hi guys its been a long time..^^
nice article brent, very informative..
well after 3 years of experience in driving, medyo nakaka relate na ko dun sa mga terms hehe..
i would just like to ask, nag lowering spring(h&r) kasi ako for my car, but..medyo kapos sa budget, so i just bought a gas-filled(kyb) shocks...ask ko lang kng ok ba ung mga gas shocks?
and here's another question, since i usually ride alone in my car, i noticed na mas mababa ung heigt sa left side compared to the right side, i rememberd i asked it already here, but that was 2 yrs ago pa ata..from what i remembered sabi nila switch ko lang ung springs ko sa left to the right...ok lang ba un? applicable ba sya for the front and rear springs?
thanks..^^

hey mate, kyb shocks are quite good. i had them on my last car and to answer your question gas is good except if you use them for track days then you obviously will need to upgrade to coilovers.
as for the difference in height, most cars if not all, will be slightly different providing the lowering springs used are off the shelf. there are alot of factors that influence this such as more weight on one side (steering, fuel tank etc), just how it is, involved in an accident or chassis flex. the only way you're going to get a flat out height is if you get your springs compressed or cut or better yet get some adjustable coil overs.

This may be a little advanced or even irrelevant to your application but bear with me, pls.
Actually, for me, what's more important is how the car will handles rather than how it will look when it comes to ride height in each corner. We tried setting my car for an even-ride height with my coilovers and it handled terribly. I spun in an autocross and was really unstable. What is more impt is corner-weighting. That's when you try to get the diagonal corner weights or crossweights equal to each other by adjusting the ride heights. In other words, the weight of the front-right + rear-left = front left + rear-right. Whne we did this, my right side was higher than my left side. Looked wierd but when it came to my race. Wow! I broke the course record by almost 3 seconds without any other adjustment.
i know you can't do this to your car but I just wanted you to know that having even ride heights won't necessarily give you a safe and stable ride when it comes time you will need it.

Adjusting and playing with the ride height? You're the MAN!
Beating a record @ 3 seconds is a great thing!

I'm kinda average in GT. Some say it's accurate but I drive by the seat-of-my-pants, feeling the car, the g's and the noise of the tires and engine. Hard to get that with PS or PC. nothing beats track-time

The adrenaline rush is very different in FPG like GT. A slight modification setting is felt. It is a controlled environment.
I agree with the fact that everything you do in GT cannot be done in real life. Maybe, practice on ps2 like memorizing tracks and speed bumps and traps and some suspension settings.
How i just wish real cars are as durable as virtual ones. :)

Quote from: single on September 11, 2006, 11:07:21 AM
isnt that what they normally use for 4x4 racings??? yan ba ung one time use only?
check them japanese buses that were imported here. iyong mga edsa na mga bus na hindi provincial, o kaya mga TAS trans na mga las-pinas to taft routes. yung iba ang gamit ay pneumatic suspension. usually ang air suspension is a bag of air na may valve sa taas nito. pag nagjounce nagcocompress itong bag na ito tapos nag oopen ung valve. tapos pag nag rebound na, iyong compressor nito naglalagay ulit ng hangin sa bag. parang spring lang din siya. benefits i don't know nothing of, siguro pwede mo i-control ang ride-height mo since ung air galing sa compressor siguro pwedeng i-control din.
Quote from: single on September 12, 2006, 07:04:23 PM
just wondering... d kaya air brakes lang un?
very informative thread. tnx :)

hi everyone!
is it ok for me to buy a type r exhaust for my 97 civic? will this fit in my car? how about freeflow mufflers? meron kasi ako nakita na for sale sa "4sale" section ng ai.
also, what's your opinion on simota air filters?
thanks! :)
Where can i purchase a supercharger? for chevy optra 2007..kindly advise..Thanks!!
iam trying to find hard to find parts for 1987 toyota corolla fx16. i need performance parts like turbo kits clutches and cam gears.
what's the major modification to put in my jazz vtec? ???
planning to upgrade ignitions, but the system has individual coils.
Type R Muffler is a good mod. Silent, but worth a few HP over stock... not as powerful, outright, as a good straight-through, but much quieter.
Supercharger? Try to do a websearch... there are taiwanese companies that'll ship. Dunno if they have for the Optra. But it'll cost at least 200k pesos. Just get a turbo.
Jazz? Only options are a chip upgrade and intake and exhaust, or a turbo. I'd go for modest exhaust upgrades and a cold-air and call it a day.
nice find ;D

Moving to a heat range 7 plug may prevent detonation but could also foul if the car is used a lot in heavy traffic conditions. You have to try it out to be sure.
thanks for the reply sir conan!guess I won't go with the 7's...my route involves the dreaded SLEX sucat exit... :violent5:

Sir...
Tanong lang po... just new on this site.
i'm planning to change my exhaust to header type, kahit na lokal, okay lang... my car is toyota corolla wide body. can anyone recommend or suggest where i can get it replaced. Thank you very much...
epmariano...
^ I suggest Mufflerland, since they have a mandrel bender. ;)
hi guys im a newbie and im planning to race my car. i just wanna ask if what is the best tranny to use in a 4efte engine for a better performance in drag racing? thanks
Mga paps tanong ko lng po. Time ko po sa quarter mile is 18.9s with stock engine (ph16) nakaheaders 4-2-1 tri y po & full wire tuck. Ano pa po ba pwde kong gawin to make my time lower pa?
Hi guys, may tanong ako, I have 205 40R 17 for my rear, and Ive noticed na masyadong malapit ung tire(sidewall) sa shock's perch(~0.3 inch clearance between shock and tire's sidewall). Yung shock's perch height clearance naman from the tire's tread is around 1 inch naman.

So the questions are
- Is the clearance of ~0.3 inch between the shocks(perch) and the tire's sidewall safe?
- Is the clearance of 1 inch between the shocks(perch) and tire's tread safe?
