i am planning to get an impreza if the budget permits. i need your advise suby gurus:

is a late 90's (around 97-99) impreza wrx a good model to buy? how much is ballpark figure for this model?

is a bug-eye impreza wrx or sti a good model as well? how much is ballpark figure for this model?

are parts easy to get? do i need to get the parts at motor image?

i could also get a brand new non turbo impreza but i am considering a pre-owned turbo model if budget permits.

or last option is to sell my galant and get a new wrx model... but i would like keep the galant as a toy car and get an earlier model impreza, keep it stock as an everyday car.

thanks guys!

also, i heard there is a bolt-on turbo for the n.a. impreza....

who made the bolt-on turbo?
how much is the kit?
how much boost?
any dyno figures?

thanks again

good pm, i think it is best if you try to ask around at subaruclub.ph

IMHO if you're buying an Impreza I'd suggest saving up and just getting the STI model. Mabibitin ka lang sa WRX, and you will have to spend more to get it up par with the STI. Just my .02...

benj,
"in a world of compromise, some dont" - ayos!

my friends also said that about the new wrx.
i am not too keen on getting a new model sti though.

i hope my budget permits me to get an earlier model sti or even a nice wrx.

or maybe a non turbo brand new impreza..... i tell myself i have a galant to tinker with anyway and the impreza will be stock( yeah right!) for daily driving duties.

As long as you don't get the 2.0R AT. Terrible waste to put such a transmission on such a car. The 2.0R MT is sweet. Decent pick-up and power, nice handling balance. I think Speedlab and a few other places have bolt-on kits for this car... you can expect around 170-200whp off the stock 2.0 with a basic kit (Speedlab's is about 150-200k)... but you'll want to stiffen up the suspension, as well.

I think, however, you'd be most happy with the latest "old" STi you can get... preferably with the center differential control...  :evil5:
