Yup better stick to imported ones. Their technology is far better than ours and the mere fact that their EPA has much stricter policy than ours. Ours rules is kinda wishy washy. Today its this and tomorrow is another. It's a good thing we are that flexible. or OVER flexible. ;D

Yes... Works on 14-plus liter displacement Cummins and Caterpillars.  But, can't guarantee results on your light-truck diesels.  Try it... I guess... don't think it will hurt...

Hey guys, I know this is OT but do any of you mix kerosene in small quantities with your diesel?  I am asking because I know someone who does (I dont know what ratio though) Suposedly the vehicle runs smoother, stronger, and cleaner. Has anyone done this? What are your experiences?  I was told that adding too much kerosene could cause engine problems and blown heads.

I tried a 1:5 ratio with my Canter for about 4 tanks and didn't notice any benefits but nothing bad either.

I have tried that before in my '95 strada before, as advised by my Japanese friend... if I remember it right its around 5 %... 1 : 10 . The benefit according to my friend, gasoline has higher sulfur content than diesel and this element helps in the lubrication.

The problem which I think was, the Viscosity of the fuel which has Kerosene will have lower Viscosity than the pure diesel..... and this may affect the Injection pump pressure thereby affecting nozzle tip spray formation. I have no Idea if this will be of positive or negative effect to injection system.  The Japanese told me that it has cleansing effect on the fuel pump, injectors, nozzle tips and very minor cost savings.

Another visual observation was, diesel mixed with 5 % kerosene has lighter color meaning its clearer than pure diesel..... this was observed... way back 2000, with the new diesel we have now I have not tried.

I agree with JohnQ, no improvement on engine power. I am not sure of the flash point of kerosene and how will it affect the temperature of the engine...
